As a young man he wrote a children’s story, The King of the Golden River, for Euphemia Chalmers Gray, known as “Effie”. This new work takes inspiration from the Grimm-like tale, with its moral echoes of The Good Samaritan, and celebrates how the local river – and water in general – can be something to be shared, rather than owned.
