Three Minuets

for (beginner) violins and cellos

Duration flexible

commissioned by Gallions Primary School, London

These minuets have been written for beginners, and are arranged in 3 groups (violin I, violin II and cello) of 3 difficulty levels (A, B and C). The A parts use only open strings (ie four notes); the B parts use open strings and first finger (ie eight notes); the C parts use open strings, first finger and second finger (ie twelve notes in all). Tempos and bowing are left at the discretion of the conductor or teacher. Ideally the music should be performed by strings only, but there is also a keyboard reduction, which may be used to help in rehearsals, or in performance as a kind of light 'continuo' part.
