O little town of Bethlehem (Forest Green)

version of the hymn (tune: Forest Green) with alternative harmony on each verse, for organ and/or strings

Duration flexible

The melody "Forest Green" was collected by Ralph Vaughan Williams from a singer, Mr Garman, of Forest Green, Surrey, UK, in 1903, and combined with the words "O little town of Bethlehem" in the English Hymnal in 1906. Oxford University Press claim the copyright of the melody in all parts of the world except the USA, where it is copyright-free. The upshot of this is that my arrangement is available for sale to musicians in the USA. If you would like to order from elsewhere, please contact me, as I would love to make the music available - but I must seek musical approval from the Vaughan Williams estate, and pay an licence fee to OUP.

Categories choral - mixed voices accompanied; church music - hymn arrangements and descants
